Fire

Adjective and noun denoting exceptional-quality cannabis flower or concentrate. Emerged in U.S. African-American Vernacular English and hip-hop in the 1990s–2000s as a generic intensifier ("that's fire") applied to desirable goods, then specialized to cannabis. Spanish fuego is used identically in bilingual contexts. Interchangeable with "gas," "loud," and "dank"; implies potency, aroma, and flavor rather than a specific strain. No lexicographic consensus on a first attestation; now ubiquitous in North American dispensary and consumer vernacular.
