Flushing
The pre-harvest practice of watering cannabis plants with plain (unfertilized) water for 7-14 days before cutting, intended to leach residual nutrients from plant tissue. Proponents claim it improves smoke quality and reduces ash harshness. Skeptics note that cannabis cannot meaningfully translocate stored nutrients out of leaves and stems on demand and that the perceived benefit is more likely from the natural senescence the plant undergoes regardless. Standard practice in commercial cannabis cultivation despite limited published evidence.
