Carb cap
A carb cap is a small cover placed over a heated banger or nail during a dab that restricts airflow, lowering internal pressure and allowing concentrate to vaporize efficiently at lower temperatures. By trapping heat and controlling vapor escape, a carb cap enables low-temperature dabs (typically 430–550°F) that preserve terpenes and deliver cleaner flavor, while reducing concentrate waste. Common styles include the directional cap, with an angled hole the user rotates to steer airflow across the oil; the bubble cap, a ball-and-socket design that restricts airflow via a top vent; the spinner cap, which uses offset holes to create a vortex that rotates terp pearls inside the banger for even heating; and the flat UFO cap for general-purpose use. Materials include quartz, borosilicate glass, and ceramic. Directional carb caps became near-universal around 2018 alongside the rise of low-temperature dabbing; they are now considered essential rather than optional, and most bangers are designed to pair with a specific cap geometry. → See also: Banger, Dab. ---
