Banger
A banger is a quartz bucket-style nail that has become the dominant heated surface for dabbing since roughly 2016. Its thick walls (commonly 3–4mm) and thick bottom (4mm or more) retain heat long enough for a full low-temperature dab session, while quartz's thermal inertia and chemical inertness preserve terpene flavor better than titanium or borosilicate. Common geometries include the flat-top (universal, compatible with most carb caps), round-bottom (easier to clean, pairs well with terp pearls), thermal or double-walled (insulated for extended heat retention), opaque-bottom (better heat absorption, useful for low-temperature rosin dabs), core reactor (central quartz puck for even distribution), and terp slurper (slotted columns and a lower dish that circulate oil for maximum flavor). Bangers are sold in 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm joint sizes and in male or female fittings at 45° or 90° angles to match the rig. Premium variants use ruby, sapphire, or silicon carbide inserts for enhanced heat retention. → See also: Quartz, Carb cap, Dab rig. ---
