CBDV

CBDV (cannabidivarin, C₁₉H₂₆O₂) is the propyl (C3) homolog of CBD, paralleling the THC/THCV relationship. It is non-intoxicating and shares CBD's general multitarget profile, including TRPV1 and TRPA1 activation and GPR55 antagonism (De Petrocellis et al., 2011). CBDV exhibits anticonvulsant activity across multiple rodent seizure models (Hill et al., 2012, British Journal of Pharmacology 167:1629). GW Pharmaceuticals advanced CBDV (GWP42006) into clinical development; a phase-2 trial in adults with focal seizures (2018) did not meet its primary endpoint, but subsequent trials have explored autism spectrum disorder (the COMPASS/STAR program) with preliminary signals on irritability and repetitive behaviors.
