Gas
Slang for cannabis with a pungent, fuel-like aroma, associated with Diesel and OG lineages. Emerged in 2000s U.S. hip-hop alongside "loud" and "fire"; origin narrowed anecdotally to Black communities in Atlanta and New York. Carries a secondary meaning of "premium" (as in "high-octane"). No single attributed coinage; spread through trap music in the 2010s and TikTok-era slang in the 2020s. Extraction laboratories (notably Abstrax Tech) have since attempted to quantify a "gas factor" through gas chromatography.
