THCP

THCP (Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabiphorol) is a phytocannabinoid with a seven-carbon (heptyl) alkyl side chain, first characterized by Citti et al. (2019, Scientific Reports 9:20335) in the Italian medicinal FM2 cultivar. In vitro binding assays reported a CB1 Ki of ~1.2 nM — roughly 33-fold higher affinity than Δ⁹-THC — and substantially greater potency than THC in tetrad behavioral tests in mice. The seven-carbon chain is the longest natural alkyl homolog reported in cannabis; together with the C6 hexyl homolog THCH, it suggests the plant's alkyl chain combinatorics are broader than long assumed. ⚠️ Despite vendor marketing claiming THCP is "30 times stronger than THC," no peer-reviewed human pharmacokinetic or subjective-effect trials have been published as of April 2026. Occupancy does not equal intoxication: higher affinity at low concentrations does not automatically predict proportional subjective potency at achievable plasma levels.
