Cookies
Bred c. 2009–2011 in the Sunset District of San Francisco by the Cookie Fam collective; principal breeder Jai "Jigga" Chang, co-founded the Cookies brand in 2010 with rapper Gilbert Anthony Milam Jr. ("Berner"). Per Jigga's 2014 account in High Times, the lineage is OG Kush (Florida cut) × F1 Durban. ⚠️ Persistent rumors add Granddaddy Purple as a third parent; Cookie Fam has never confirmed. Originally named Girl Scout Cookies (GSC); renamed "GSC" after the Girl Scouts of the USA objected c. 2017. Broke through nationally 2011–2013 via Berner's music-industry networking and Instagram marketing, and won Best Hybrid at the 2013 SoCal Cannabis Cup. Cookies became one of cannabis's first truly national consumer brands, and Girl Scout Cookies became the foundational parent of Wedding Cake, Gelato, Sunset Sherbet, Cherry Pie, Thin Mint, Platinum Cookies, and Animal Cookies. It inaugurated the "dessert strain" aesthetic that dominated the 2010s–2020s menu.
