Munchies
The post-cannabis food craving. Plural of munchie ("snack eaten to satisfy hunger," 1917), from the verb munch (early 15th century, likely imitative, possibly influenced by Old French mangier). The drug-related sense — "craving for food after smoking marijuana" — is U.S. stoner slang first attested in 1971 in the University of South Dakota's Current Slang. Now globally recognized. Biomedically linked to THC stimulation of ghrelin signaling and CB1 receptors in the hypothalamus, validated in endocannabinoid-system research from the 1990s onward.
