Pinner

A small, thin, tightly rolled joint resembling a sewing pin, from standard English pin plus -er. Documented in U.S. cannabis slang from roughly the 1980s onward; catalogued in Green's Dictionary of Slang. ⚠️ A minority folk etymology claims prison-culture origin ("penner," from pen for penitentiary), where scarcity forced thin joints, but the visual pin-resemblance explanation is dominant. Typically rolled when supply is scarce or for low-tolerance users; sometimes also denotes low-grade "pinner weed." Usage is chiefly American.
