Broad-spectrum

Broad-spectrum extracts contain multiple cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis but have had Δ⁹-THC selectively reduced to undetectable or near-undetectable levels, typically by chromatographic separation, chilled crystallization, or catalytic conversion of residual THC to CBN or CBD. They appeal to consumers who want a purportedly "entourage-style" composition without the regulatory, workplace-testing, or intoxication risks associated with even trace THC. Like "full-spectrum," the term carries no uniform legal definition, and residual THC above laboratory limits of detection has been documented in products marketed as broad-spectrum. Pharmacological assumptions of equivalence to full-spectrum material are untested; removing THC changes the CB1 agonist content of the matrix and may alter any putative synergistic effects. → See also: Full-spectrum, Isolate, Entourage effect.
