Rolling tray
A rolling tray is a flat, shallow tray with raised edges used as a dedicated workspace for breaking down, grinding, and rolling cannabis. Its core purpose is containment: raised curves keep loose flower and ground material from scattering, and a funneled corner or lip allows leftover material to be poured back into storage. Common materials include anodized aluminum (durable, easy to clean), wood (bamboo and hardwoods, often premium finishes), glass, silicone, ceramic, and budget plastic. Industry-standard sizes run small (roughly 7 by 5.5 inches, portable), medium (around 11 by 7 inches, the most common home size), and large (13 by 11 inches and up, suited to group sessions). Feature variations include magnetic covers for travel, compartments for grinders and papers, built-in rolling mats, and debossed measurement markings. As a non-consumable accessory with no direct combustion or concentrate function, rolling trays sit at the lowest end of the paraphernalia risk spectrum and are sold openly in dispensaries, head shops, and mainstream retail. They complement grinders and papers rather than overlapping with any other device in this glossary. → See also: Grinder, Papers. ---
